I give ZERO ****s about Georgia vs Savannah State or Florida vs Jacksonville State. My Hokies would NOY be favored by 51.5 over any team in America 2 years ago, so the fact that we are favored by 51.5? I am for it, and that enough for me. Sola Rex! Give em Hell Hokies!!!!

I agree with you. 9 and 3 is far from what most would consider realistic. No argument there. I just think Franklin, the new energy surge, and the Offense is going to be special. I think the offense will be far better that what most expect. Specifically, the OL. For example, we recruited a kid, a 4 star and Army HS All American in Brody Meadows years ago. The kid was showing great flashes before the injury. He's 100 percent healthy now. You are going to see stuff like that, not just Meadows (in my opinion) that greatly helps the offense. As an overall program and where we have been the past few years, no question, 7 and 5 is realistic. I think we overachieve, and 9 and 3 is clearly that of we pull it off. Fingers crossed.

Left for Vladivostok, Russia to work 2 days after watching in person, D.Hall swiping one away from Roscoe and the Canes in 2003. Never got to see the Hokies in person since then. It's been 23 years. After moving back to U.S. 5 months ago, it's back to Lane Stadium Hokie time. Damn, it's good to be Hokie. I love my school. I love my team. There are lots of Hokie jerseys in Vladivostok, Russia, after my doings for nearly 25 years. I talked, cheered on, and spread the word about the Hokies over there and the Rooskies over in the far East of Russia started to like the Hokies. In my time there, through friends and acquaintances, we had 5 local Vladivostok kids go to VT over the years for engineering. Much of this was me sipping Vodka with their daddies and they became defacto Hokie fans through me, and I would talk up Hokie engineering and some followed through with their kids by sending their kids to Tech. Logans TD run against UM in 2011 and those final 3 defensive plays were loud also. Other than Hall taking it from R.Parish in 2003, the blocked punt on Miami in the 4th in 2001 at home where we came back and about beat them was deafening loud regarding a single moment in time..

That was monumental losses because FSU had success in the air. I always wondered how that would have went down if those guys play the 4th qtr, of which we temporarily took the lead on FSU if I recall in the late 3rd quarter. Midget and Charlton were incredible players.

That team that lost to USC and Auburn was at the peak of recruiting gains that came from our 1999 and 2000 on field success. The only issue was.....our offensive coordinator who turned out to be......not very good. We had a talented offense that year and it should have been way more productive than what it was. If you swap Ricky Bustle as the OC with Stinespring for the Auburn-USC year, then I think we would have had a very solid chance to win or at least play for a NATI that year, but that wasn't going to happen with Stinespring as our OC.. Stinespring became our Recruiting Coordinator way to late. He should have been in that position 10 years earlier. He also stayed way to late as the OC. He should have been out of that position 10 years earlier.

Could someone argue JMU was high risk-low reward? Sure, but we have altered past schedules and dates and messed with contract issues in the past with ODU, even effecting future dates, so is and ODU had already had enough contract and schedule alterations in the past that ODU was left as a choice to stay. VMI obviously a home game, a win, a military thing. JMU was the easy choice, but it wasn't simply that "we ducked JMU" due to being scared.

Argentina and making the World Cup is pretty much automatic like Brazil. Argentina and Brazil go into WCs not thinking about whether they will qualify to make the tournament, they go into it thinking about what their chances of winning it are. Argentina's chances in 2030 will be very very low and lower than what they were this 2026 WC. Argentina came into this WC as approximately the 3rd (at best) to 8yh best team for this 2026 WC. Returned a whole lot of starters from their 2022 WC Title, but those guys are old. It's not just Messi that is old. As an overall team, they were old.

Argentina returned most of their aging starters from their WC win 4 years ago. It wasn't just Messi that was older, they had the oldest roster combined of any World Cup Final team in history and the oldest of any World Cup Final i team since 1962. Argentina is like Brazil. They grow soccer players, but are 8 years away from their talented youth (and they have bucket loads in the pipeline) come of age. Spain and France will be big favs in 2030. Spain had a young roster and sets on bucket loads of talent along with France. Messi is the best to ever play the game. Argentina lost to a better team and actually did a remarkable job to keep it that close for that long. The physicality, extra bumps, pushes, and shoves by Argentina was a brilliant move to try and offset Spains speed and youthful legs. It largely and remarkable kept it way closer than it should have been. They tried to frustrate Spain with the physical play, but Spain buckled up and wasn't intimidated. Spain has some youthful super talented and little guys. Spain is smaller than Argentina in size and stature, but those young men battled and did their thing. Used their speed and skill and dominated the game.

Great talent by Argentina, but the oldest roster in a final 8 of the world cup since 1962 and the oldest combined roster of a Final team in WC history. Had most of their starters back from 4 years ago and it wasn't just Messi that was old, their returning starters were older. Spain had crazy youthful talent and it was obvious by the way they took France apart, that the Spaniards were the real deal. I think Argentina did the right thing. They tried to muscle them and frustrate them and play physical to offset the speed advantage and youthful leg advantage and a remarkable coaching job by Argentina to somehow keep it that close for so long.

I had just graduated at Tech with my engineering degree and was supposed to start in 4 weeks for my new job. 2 Klansmen were involved in the weed market near Macon, Ga. I robbed them..Got caught, did 4 years in prison. They also got busted and served time. I had a former Hokie grad and friend that took a chance on me..I got my first job after prison in my field, did well, and later started one of the largest engineering firms in Russia along with a Georgia Tech grad (don't hold it against me, he's a good guy). In Russia, I dedicated free time to working with at risk youth (like me decades ago) and after returning to the USA after living and working for about 21 years in Russia, I gave up the engineering field and work full time with at risk youth and with recovery programs here in the U.S. Was my arse busted? Not in prison thankfully, but my parents wore me out many of times on my youth, and every time, it was deserved.

The speed of France is so respected and alarming that teams played off of them all tournament in fear and rightfully so. Against Spain and England, both teams have speed and they aren't respecting France and aren't simply letting them walk the ball down the field within 30 feet from the box and then packing it in and playing defense. They are simply taking the ball from them, challenging them. On offense, Spain and England aren't playing in fear of Frances speed and over passing. They are challenging in 1 on 1 situations in mid field and expecting to win some of those. In conclusion, you could see it against Spain and you can see it against England in that France is "shocked" or "surprised" that these 2 teams are going for their throat and having little to zero respect for Frances speed.

Maybe Argentina isn't simply a clutch soccer team with guys that "work hard" that find ways to win and led by the GOAT Messi. Nope. Maybe......Argentina might just be what they've shown on the field for the last 4 years in international futbol (soccer) in that they've dominated international play. They might just be....the favorites. Hard to say and hard to do transitive theory, but England is taking it to France and we all know France is pretty dang good..
